blue shoes

“You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose.” ~ Dr. Seuss, “Oh, the Places You’ll Go!”

I’m getting ready for my trip. It is going to be awesome!2newshoes-rnd

To get ready, Mom took us shopping for new shoes. I got dark blue Nike shoes with neon green laces. My sister got black ones with sky blue laces.

I also got a new pair of black sandals. They are very comfortable. I bet walking to the beach will be very comfortable for me now.

Hopefully this will make walking around shopping with my Mom easier (I don’t like shopping.  It’ll never be easier.).

packed (early!)

A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step…all you need is a small suitcase.

Today is the most boring day of my life. All we did was pack for the vacation. Seriously. It was so boring walking back and forth the whole time getting stuff.

But I was excited because I knew packing would mean we will be going on our trip soon! Look at all the stuff we packed!

Yes, we are blessed with a certain mom and we are packed a full 15 days before we leave.

come join us

There’s no journey that doesn’t change you somehow.

our feet.

My brother and I will soon leave on our fourth international flight, our second to Europe.

William and I have our own cameras so we can take our own pictures for our blog. My camera is pink. William’s is blue. You can see all the things we are going to do this summer.

What is life if not for a series of experiences?

When I was little and we moved to Chicagoland we’d often spend the summers vacationing back in California. We drove. Never flew.

Along the way we’d have our adventures. And we’d keep our journals.

ArgentinaAlong the way I’d capture my own memories.

Sometimes it was discovering the Eagles by finding a lost cassette tape in Las Vegas and falling in love with “Hotel California“. Sometimes it was discovering there’s a limit to how many times I can reasonably listen to Fiddler on the Roof’sIf I Were a Rich Man“. Sometimes it was listening to LL Cool J’s “I Need Love” in the middle of the night while Dad was driving. Or Madonna’s “Borderline” while driving through New Mexico.

One of the joys of parenthood is making my children do the things my parents made me do (as I’m sure they will do to their own children).

But this is 2013. And in 2013 we don’t keep paper journals. We blog.

I invite you to follow as I take my children to places around the world. Two travelers. A brother & sister. Four shoes.
